"No Extra Charge," a.k.a. "homework," is a page for current clients or others who are interested so that they can access activities to help therapy remain "therapeutic" between sessions.

Don't worry!  These exercises are designed to be helpful, not headaches.  Peruse at your leisure.  Try them on for size.  See if any of them interest you.

This page was updated 3/6/2023.  Please check back in as I continue to add assignments designed to help you move forward with your personal growth.

Listening Exercises

Listed below are some audio files containing meditations that some clients have found helpful.  Get comfortable, get yourself "undisturbable," click and listen.
  1. The Wheel of Awareness by Dr. Dan Siegel, adapted by Dr. Steve Minter (27 min).
  2. This link will take you to a relaxation exercise led by a hypnotherapist with expertise in pain control.  I recommend renting it before buying it to see if it helps (55 min).
  3. The Power of a Story--Your Story (7 min).
  4. Can You Take a Compliment? (8 min).
  5. Be Sure to Count Yourself (12 min).

  7. Thanking Your Symptoms (12 min)
  8. Best Bully Story Ever (17 min)

Journaling Exercises

Journaling is not for everybody, nor is it a "cure all."  But some have enjoyed the slowing down which occurs when a person puts pen to paper, and the insights generated.  Here are some suggestions:
  1. Four Ss
  2. Adulting
  3. Connecting
  4. Neuroplasticity
  5. Left-Right Brain
  6. Trust-Part 1
  7. Helping versus Enabling
  8. When is a Problem Actually a Solution?
  9. Cannabis & Me

Behavioral Exercises

Are you a "learn by doing" type of person?  The following exercises are designed to create experiential learning opportunities for those wanting to try something different.
  1. Breathing Basics.
  2. For more specific instruction in Box Breathing, you could also review the 3 minute video found here.  Experiment with 3 sets.  Did you notice any difference in your body?  Your feelings?
  3. One of my favorite movies is The Shawshank Redemption.  Whether or not you have seen it before, watch it again with this question in your mind:  "What themes seem most applicable to my life?"  and "What would it take for me to do what Andy did?"
